Algonquin Beaded Necklace by Susan Shatreau-Janisky. This wonderful beaded necklace has a spectacular Kingman turquoise stone mounted and beaded on brain-tanned leather. The necklace is Sterling silver with melon and bench beads separated by coral and is finished with a sterling silver clasp. This spectacular piece was created by Algonquin silversmith Susan Shatreau-Janisky. The beautiful Kingman stone is 1.25 in. long x .75 in. wide.

The usage of all materials: hematite, shell, pinon and glass goes deep into the tradition of spirit and earth.

Susan Shatreau-Janisky is a Metis of Algonquin, Mohawk and French Canadian ancestry. She is a registered member of the Aboriginal Metis Community of Maniwaki, Quebec, Canada. She was born in northern upstate New York and presently resides in northern Arizona with her husband Michael Janisky.

Susan is an award-winning artist who was taught her traditional native craft when she was young. Susan has worked in silversmithing, wire art, leather and beadwork. She uses the traditional designs that were passed down through her relations as well as her own designs.
